Grant's experience and achievements in the America's Cup are second to none. He has won the America's Cup four times, either as a sailor, design coordinator or general manager. He is the right person to help Land Rover BAR achieve the goal to bring the Cup home to Britain.feedback

Those boats don't go to windward very well and are not that maneuverable, so my guess is that these would be a high-performance version of that and would be narrower. They obviously would be more powerful and dynamic because they'll have more crew to trim the sails and work the boat.” said Ben Ainslie on this article: America’s Cup Will Return to Monohulls in 2021. Ben Ainslie quotes

Jun 02 2017

There's not much we can do about the size of our daggerboards but there are lot of other changes we can make; the rudders, the set-up of the wing and so on. Clearly our performance wasn't good enough in those conditions.feedback

May 27 2017

Ben's apologised. It was clearly their mistake that caused it.feedback

May 27 2017

It's going to take a lot of work but the guys have dug us out in the past and I'm sure they will do so again. It is a big hole. It just depends where that is on the boat structurally and whether it can just be patched up or not.feedback

May 27 2017

Thank god no one was hurt, that's the main thing. Boats you can mend, people you can't.feedback

May 27 2017

Dean had the right of way but he came in pretty tight. But ultimately we had the side-swipe which was our mistake.feedback

May 26 2017

That's a big shift. It certainly raised a few eyebrows, and I think for this cycle, I didn't necessarily like it that much, but when you look at where you're going in the future, it's what you had to create. Because you want to create racing where all the teams are involved. You want to create a circuit. You have to take your hat off to them. That was actually pretty smart negotiating. There was nothing, you know, underhanded about that.feedback

May 25 2017

It's crazy. It's our motivation really as a team, to right that wrong in our maritime history.feedback

May 25 2017

We've been working on a number of significant upgrades to get our speed competitive. I believe we can do that, and if we can, we can race as well anyone. We've proven that.feedback

May 25 2017

I remember just before the 2013 Cup having dinner with John Bertrand. John and I built up a great friendship over the years. He's somewhat of a mentor, and I remember saying: 'This Cup is bloody hard. I'm not sure how I'm ever going to get involved. I am struggling to see the pathway.feedback

May 25 2017

And he said to me, You just need to keep going because it changes so quickly.' And then two or three weeks later, there I was with Oracle and this amazing comeback.feedback

May 25 2017

I love this book. Amazing guy.feedback

May 22 2017

We considered pedalling, but decided we could get on top of the efficiency issues, also retaining the durability of being on our feet or knees rather than the risk of being unstable on a bike. Oracle have got one bike at the back but this seems just a reaction to New Zealand. I assume they're looking at it from the advantage of being the defender. They can use the challenger series to experiment because they don't need the results to qualify.feedback

May 22 2017

Absolutely, and we remember him every day. It was the anniversary last Tuesday [9 May] and all the teams got together out on the Great Sound at daybreak. We rafted up alongside each other and shared 15 minutes thinking about Andrew. We have great memories of our friendship and his impact on sailing but it was obviously terrible when he died. His wife Leah and their two boys, Freddie and Hamish, came out to Bermuda six weeks ago. It was absolutely fantastic to see Leah and the boys go out on the boats and watch the racing and be embraced by so many friends.feedback

May 22 2017 - Drones

I compare it to the World Series of Cricket in the 1970s. They really revolutionised how cricket was filmed and watched. That same revolution is taking place in the America's Cup. The boats are smaller and faster but we've got more cameras on board, drone technology and all the audio. So it will be an incredible spectacle and one of the closest America's Cup in history. It has all the ingredients to be the best-ever.feedback

May 22 2017

It was my mistake. This is it … this is it … work your arses off!feedback

May 22 2017

About half of the team I sailed with in 2013 are back with Oracle. But they also have brought in new people and they're in a very strong position. After that I see the field being quite wide open. Artemis [the Swedish-backed boat] have done a fantastic job. They'll be very strong – as will Team New Zealand. You never count out the Kiwis and they've been very aggressive with their design philosophy, pushing the boundaries of what's possible, which is fascinating.feedback

May 22 2017 - Carbon

From the outset it's been important to us and 11th Hour Racing is our key sustainability partner. They instilled a sense of responsibility as to how best we drive our sustainability. We've got a partnership with Southampton University looking at how we can better recycle carbon which is a key component in the hulls and wings of our boats.feedback

May 22 2017

If you asked all the teams, they'd want more time to make technical improvements but at some point you've got to draw a line in the sand and get on with the competition. It's closing in fast.feedback

May 02 2017

It's like Formula One on water, it's very high speed. When these boats turn the corners the g-force is serious. If someone has made a mistake in crossing the boat when you're making a turn they'll just get wiped off the side of the boat. They won't have a chance of staying on. At those speeds, with those forces, with the technology, you feel like a racing car driver or a pilot – it's that sort of intensity. You have to be focused and on your game.feedback

May 02 2017

It's amazing. To think back 25 years and imagine a boat like this, it's unthinkable really. It's amazing and totally revolutionised the sport – for the better. We put a lot of thought into (the steering wheel) with the technicians and we're really happy with the philosophy around it. We've got to go out and fine-tune it over the next couple of weeks.feedback

Apr 17 2017

My wife, Georgie, and I are good friends of Richard Branson's, and we have been to stay with him on Necker Island a few times. Being there in the Caribbean and here in Bermuda and talking to the locals, you realize the extent of the lionfish issue, and the potential devastation it could cause. It's something they are really, really concerned about.feedback

Apr 17 2017

It's an inventive way to try and tackle this issue. I'm sure it's going to get developed over time, and I'm sure they'll make it work.feedback

Nov 17 2016

The team are really proud of getting ourselves to the top of the fleet but we need to keep doing the same things we have been doing in those other events, keep that focus and not get too distracted about some of the teams coming up behind us.feedback

Nov 17 2016

Its an amazing sensation when you lift up out of the water...It is akin to flying an aeroplane. It takes a lot of focus and concentration and then of course when you are in a racing environment you've got to try to deal with beating the opposition at the same time.feedback

Nov 17 2016

We do have some really cool technical partnerships. Land Rover are our title sponsor but also the innovation that they are putting in...a lot of the computer power that they have has enabled us to go through different simulations for the boat.feedback
