The album 17-11-70 was not meant to be a live one at all; we did one of the first-ever stereo radio broadcasts live at A&R Recording Studios in New York City in 1970 on the 17th of November. It was Phil Ramone's studio, one of the greatest producers of all time, and we just went in the booth and played it as a three-piece: Nigel Olsson on drums and vocals, Dee Murray on bass and vocals, and myself.feedback

I love vinyl so much. The tactile nature, the ritual of it, looking at the sleeve ... especially with the old albums and the liner notes - who played on them, the process of putting it on, the needle going on and the sound coming out. And it does sound better, I know it does. I've been around long enough to know, I've been in so many studios … It does sound better. So it's just the wonder of having vinyl.feedback

There are lyrics that are obvious and there are others that are esoteric, like Take Me To The Pilot (from 1970), that I still haven't got a f-----g clue about. The magic of the relationship is that it's odd and otherworldly – the connection between two minds so in sync we've never had an argument about anything in 46 years, and I can tell you that on my son's life. Even though he's probably been disgusted with some of my behaviour over the years, and rightfully so, it's never crossed his mind to be anything other than kind to me. It's incredibly moving, really.feedback

It seems impossible that anybody can still write a great song because so many songs have already been written but Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran is a great song, it sort of reminds me of Van Morrison at his very best. Ed's a really great writer. To be honest, when I agreed to do it, I didn't realise it was an award. I thought it was an ITV programme. I've had so many awards, they're always nice, but if I'm being really candid, it's a lovely way to sell the new record. I don't get played much on the radio any more. So, at my age, I'll take what exposure I can get!feedback

So for this legislation (gay marriage) to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, Oh, well we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married.' We will get married.feedback

Dec 21 2014 - Homosexuality

Having our civil partnership was an incredible breakthrough for people that have campaigned for a long time – through the '60s and the '50s in England when it was so hard to be gay and hard to be open about it. And it was a criminal act.feedback
