Last quote by Jacques Delors

And then I see a great Europe, open, basically founded on the single market, the four freedoms of circulation – people, services, goods and capital – but also with a world view – of development aid and neighbourhood policies, and everything that is done for victims of tragedies – and I see this great Europe as a model that could inspire a reform of the United Nations.

Jacques Delors quotes

Firstly concerning the details of reunification, I found them risky, they cost alot in terms of German public spending. But I think Chancellor Kohl's solution, especially regarding the East German currency, was the right one. I am very happy that the 25 were able to come to an agreement on the financial perspectives, which are going to be reviewed. That will be in 2008. But that doesn't stop me from giving my point of view: This is a crisis of the European spirit. We no longer reason along European lines, but increasingly only in a short-term way, seeing its interests in the short term. This is laughable in relation to the challenges shaking European countries.
