Last quote by Jolyon Palmer

It's a shame for me not to finish the season having been with the team a while, but I respect the decision and I wish the team all the best for the future and Carlos the best. We go in separate ways and I'll work on something else in the future. The stress levels have been huge this year, it's been a very tough season for many reasons. Each weekend coming in with question marks. I would have happily seen out the season and I think the team is in a good place. It's a shame but I'll move on, there's plenty of life outside of F1 out there and I'm about to find out what it is.feedback

The latest quote from Jolyon Palmer is: “It's been pretty clear, Carlos is signed for next year and Cyril [Abiteboul] made it clear he wanted to put him in the car this year as well. You go wide and then try to come back on again, and then you're going to destroy the car. I think it's too severe. For a solution like that, we had the timing loop, and that was a nightmare last year. I think it's the right direction but I think it's too severe.feedback

Jul 28 2017 - Renault

The car been put together in a different spec and folded back on, and tried to balance it with a bit of an unknown. We don't really know what was the issue at the moment, but we could clearly see that there's a problem with the rear. That I'm sure came from the run wide in FP1.feedback

Jul 27 2017 - Renault

Yeah, of course, it's my boss telling me they're not planning on putting Kubica in the car [full-time]. For me nothing changes. He called me to tell me Robert is testing, which is fine, I can understand why.feedback

Jul 27 2017 - Renault

But for me, I get a longer holiday and I come back refreshed for Spa. It's good for Robert - I lose a day in the car but nothing changes. I'm just looking forward to having a second half of the season. I would rather have the day, but it is what it is really. It's not going to make a big difference. Last year it was helpful mid-season to have a test at Silverstone and it's mileage which would have been nice to catch up on.feedback

Jul 26 2017 - Renault

But, there were certainly a couple of good things from Silverstone. My qualifying pace was decent and I managed my second best run of the season. I drove with the new floor in FP1 and it was working nicely, meaning I'm happy to have it for Budapest. Nico showed the benefit of the floor across last weekend with his strong qualifying and race pace. It's exciting for the team as we looked competitive and ahead of our midfield rivals. That's all I hope for in Hungary.feedback

Jul 26 2017 - Renault

I have burnt the unlucky underpants, so they are now out of the way. I'm not superstitious, but you have to say this run of bad luck has to end. The big negative was obviously not being able to start the race. That was unbelievably frustrating, especially as it was my home Grand Prix and I had a lot of support. I couldn't believe it.feedback

Jul 16 2017 - Renault

I'm gutted. Second best qualifying of the year, starting just outside of the points, we had really good race pace this weekend as well. The car was working well. It was the race to have a great shot at getting those points but it's another problem. Nothing else to say really, just gutted. It was a hydraulic leak on the formation lap.feedback

Jul 08 2017

I knew qualifying was going to be tight. The car feels better and the performance is closer this weekend so it's a shame that we couldn't hook it up in end but there is overall progress. We'll look to have a good start and aim to get in the points tomorrow.feedback

Jul 03 2017

I don't know if Lewis did a lot wrong to be honest. I think Seb was pretty hot-headed and when I was in GP2 Jonny Cecotto deliberately drove into someone and he got banned from the whole weekend, and that's in GP2.feedback

Jun 24 2017

When you are driving you feel like you are being quite passive into the corner and then you try a bit harder on the brakes and you have these massive lock ups. It caught me out and even when I was watching at Turn 8 there was three people who had to come reversing back during the session, so it just feels like it's difficult to explore the limits on the brakes because they are very sensitive between it all being fine and suddenly having a lock up when you push a little bit harder.feedback

May 12 2017 - Renault

We are kinda getting half of the running that we normally would because everything we do on the hard tyres was irrelevant and the medium are difficult and the softs is what counts for qualifying. [The mediums] are very hard and they are a very low-grip tyre. We need to use them in the race of course, but for low-fuel stuff, they are so far off the soft that you do not really learn anything.feedback

May 11 2017

He had some strange logic, but it's OK, it's racing. I think when you have an incident it's quite often that people don't agree with what happened, for me it was quite clear what happened, especially watching the replay. I'm happy that it's a racing incident and I'm happy to accept that it's a racing incident, I can understand from his point of view that he was on the inside, from my point of view I had to turn in because I had a car on the outside, and I think he seems to think something else. Roughly that some rules apply to him and not for other drivers, that sort of thing.feedback

Apr 30 2017

I turned into the corner at Turn 2, I had a Sauber on one side and Grosjean stuck his nose in the other side and then basically got hit by him. There wasn't a gap there for him. I had a car on the other side so I was sandwiched between two cars, and he kept it stuck in off the track on the inside and hit me.feedback

Apr 30 2017

I think maybe he doesn't realise there was a Sauber on my outside. I'm blaming him, I think when you are coming into the corner like that, you are coming in hot, you are coming in off the track on the inside because there is not any space. There's not much I can do. I couldn't turn out, I had the Sauber there.feedback

Apr 29 2017 - Renault

With difficulty... it is not going my way but it is a long season. It wasn't going my way this time last season as well. I actually felt good with the car today, I think the guys did a good job to change the chassis last night and we were in a good place with the set up. Compared to Nico, the few laps I have done, it has not been so bad. It is just... obviously very disappointing to put it in the wall like that. There are positives but a lot of negatives as well.feedback

Apr 29 2017 - Renault

I am confident [in Renault], it is just the way it has been. The one time there was a problem on his car he wasn't even driving it! That is how it goes. I am sure the luck will turn and like I said last year it was tough times and I dug in and finished the year with a very good second half. We are not even a quarter through the year so there are plenty of races to turn it around.feedback

Apr 08 2017

I was miles up on where I was, so I think my lap was enough for Q2. I couldn't believe it because the car has been feeling good this weekend.feedback

Mar 25 2017

We had a fuel surge on the first run, so I didn't do a lap. I did my second lap, it was my first of the weekend on ultrasoft and to be honest the car was awful. Yesterday the car was feeling good, yeah I crashed, which was my bad, but I was really happy with the car at least and showing something sensible in the lap times. Today, the car was put back together, I have to thank the guys, but it's actually a disaster. I'm a second off what I did on my second lap in FP1, which is pretty terrible. The brakes are terrible, the balance is pretty horrible and the traction is terrible.feedback

Mar 24 2017

It is very close with everyone [at the moment]. It is not going to be a two-by-two because the pace of the cars are so close it could be one driver in Q3 and one out in Q1. It's going to come down to small margins.feedback

Mar 24 2017

It is going to be tough tomorrow and I am going to have to have a really good P3, but I think I can recover.feedback

Mar 24 2017

I have got confidence in the car still. I am just frustrated because it puts me on the back foot for tomorrow. I just need to do some more laps. Barcelona testing was all fine and I was getting a lot of confidence in the car and the few laps I had before I was feeling good.feedback

Feb 26 2017

That was really fun. Loads of downforce, loads of grip, a few laps, no hiccups and a big smile on my face.feedback

Oct 28 2016 - Renault

I think I have a reasonable chance to be here ... I'm pretty confident of being on the grid next year.feedback

Oct 28 2016 - Renault

I think the reason the decision has been delayed is that it's not clear at the moment who is going to take the seat.feedback

Oct 22 2016 - Renault

As far as the other ones (team vacancies) go, we'll see what's on the table after that.feedback

Oct 22 2016 - Renault

I think me and Kevin have overall done a good job for the team and got on really well with the team and worked hard for it but obviously one of us is gone.feedback
