Lindsey Vonn quotes

May 19 2017 - Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is thanksgiving so before my family gets here I want to take the time and give thanks. Even though I'm injured, again, I have so much to be thankful for; incredible friends, an amazing boyfriend, my family and a lot of loyal supporters….feedback

You're representing your country and the world is looking at you to see how you can perform, to see if you can hold up to the pressure and bring home the gold. There's a lot more that goes into it than just a normal competition.feedback

Even at 16, you could see how good she would become.feedback

Feb 25 2017

Unfortunately after getting food poisoning and crashing today I don't feel healthy enough to safely race tomorrow so I will not be starting.feedback

Feb 24 2017

No. 2: Listen to the representatives. Sofia (Goggia) told them that it was not acceptable to race but they didn't listen and now Denise probably blew her knee out because no one listened.feedback

It has to be everyone looking out for the most important thing, the athletes' safety. I realize if the race is cancelled people lose money and the fans, I understand all of the politics, but there is no ski racing and there is no politics if we don't have safe athletes.feedback

Feb 24 2017

For me I've had so many injuries, I don't need to risk anything today. A lot of the other athletes and coaches were asking me to put pressure on everyone to try to cancel the race because it's too dangerous and I did my best but I just pray that no one else gets hurt today. I think it was a smart decision for our team to pull out of the race. First and foremost, if all of the forerunners are crashing and not finishing that's a sign that something's wrong. The forerunners are there for a reason. Julia was one of the forerunners, she told them and they didn't listen.feedback

The problem is a lot of times people mistake our opinions as just whining. We're women and we're whining and we just need to suck it up and race, and that's not the case. Probably more than half or the field has been injured before ... it's unfortunate that the FIS doesn't listen to us.feedback

Feb 12 2017

It feels really good. I would have loved to ski a little bit faster but I fought really hard.feedback

Feb 09 2017

It was interesting. I think what my legs were doing was pretty good considering I haven't skied slalom since the combined in Andorra last year. I definitely have to tape it pretty solidly for the race. But I think it will be good enough for one race of slalom.feedback

And by the last section I put it against my thigh and I got it back but I wasn't sure how I skied because I was distracted and thought I needed to make up some time so I pushed the line a little bit and went too straight. So now I'm using duct tape.feedback

Feb 08 2017

I was so distracted, I was trying to stay in the rhythm and I knew where I was on the course but I wasn't attacking I was just trying to figure out what was going on. Should I lose my pole? Should I try to get it back?feedback

Feb 08 2017

I've done it before. It's kind of annoying as once you are taped in you can't get it out, so I need a bit of help at the start. But at least I know my pole is going to stay on and I don't have to think about it.feedback

Feb 08 2017

I just wanted to get a feeling for the course. I was just skiing down solid and trying to build my confidence again.feedback

Feb 07 2017

I feel like (my hand) is strong enough, then I'm in the course and I don't know where my pole is. I am definitely going to have to duct tape my hand to my pole now.feedback

Jan 28 2017

Yesterday I got too much air and didn't have time to turn. I'm OK. I'm a little sore but hopefully I'll be fine for tomorrow. It just wasn't my day today, or yesterday for that matter, but that's ski racing.feedback

While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are OK and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do!feedback
