He's left me frustrated. We've seen him on his day when he fancies doing both sides of the game he is a world-class talent. I just worry about his reaction and body language. When the ball is turned over he offers his team-mates zero. Away from home he's a liability and he just doesn't do enough.feedback

Aug 20 2017

It's clear to see that out of possession he doesn't want to know. He only wants to be on the ball, trying to create and making things happen.feedback

Aug 19 2017

They need a couple of players in there with steel and aggression. Otherwise it's going to look nice and they're going to have loads of possession but they're going to have more performances like this.feedback

Aug 16 2017

This kid who's come from South America has always had a dream of playing for Barcelona, and he's panicking thinking that if he doesn't do it now it'll never happen again. I know the kid, I know he's not a bad person, I know he doesn't want to cause a war to come out. But at the end of the day he's just signed a five-year deal, the club have been superb to him and made him the player he is.feedback

Aug 16 2017

This kid's obsessed with improving and getting better on a daily basis.feedback

Aug 10 2017

I think he's an amazing player, he would strengthen any team in the league, for sure. From what I've seen at Celtic, from what I've seen at Southampton…I was actually hoping we'd come in with a bid from him when he came from Celtic.feedback

It's a dream move for South Americans, I've seen it before with Mascherano and Suárez. This is a very difficult situation for the club to be in.feedback

Jul 13 2017

[He is] just a phenomenal footballer.feedback

Jul 13 2017

He occupies the whole back four by himself. He was an absolute dream to play with. He was always on the move so that you could pick him out.feedback

Jul 13 2017

You're guaranteed goals, assists, he just causes every opposition problems and creates a lot of space for the players around him. He's relentless -- that's the word to sum him up. He scores great goals, all type of goals, he creates out of nothing.feedback

Jun 18 2017

We have got a fantastic manager at the helm. I think Liverpool are very, very close. If you look at the statistics in the top six, they are the best team in terms of head-to-head.feedback

Jun 18 2017

Liverpool know where they need to improve and it is the consistency against the teams that are maybe in the bottom half of the table, the teams that sit narrow and compact and are difficult to break down.feedback

Jun 18 2017

Hopefully we can get the two or three pieces of the jigsaw that are missing. I am really confident Liverpool can keep moving forward and success can be just round the corner.feedback

Jun 10 2017

Of course it's been a difficult season for him but he's more than capable of getting a good pre-season under his belt and coming back very strong and forcing his way back in – I have no doubt about that.feedback

It will cost us a few more quid but I think he is a piece of the jigsaw that would be very welcome and very big for this team.feedback

The next three, four, five, six years, whatever it turns out to be, are going to be very exciting and players will want to be a part of what Jurgen is doing.feedback

May 26 2017

If I'm a top player around Europe and Jurgen picks the phone up and I get offered the chance to play for this club, which is moving forward in every single department and has a world-class manager leading it, I'd be jumping at that opportunity.feedback

May 20 2017 - World Cup

I'm very jealous of your World Cup medal. I'm very jealous of your league titles in Germany and Spain. But you deserve it and, as I said, I couldn't ask for a better midfield partner and, when you left, it broke my heart.feedback

May 20 2017

I just want to say huge congratulations on your retirement. What a special career. For me, probably the most enjoyable partner throughout my career as a midfielder. The best passer of a ball I've ever played with. You deserve all the accolades that you get mate. What a special career for club and country.feedback

May 20 2017

But you'll always have a special place at this football club, and you're always welcome to come and visit.feedback

Apr 27 2017

I was obsessed. I didn't, I'd go home and think about it and try to do it the next day. You have to be obsessed. Even though they're your team-mates, you've got to be obsessed to move them out of the way, and once you're in, they're staying out of the way and not coming back.feedback

Apr 27 2017

It's about development, it's about improving and I know exactly where I am. I could have taken other coaching positions and management roles on name or reputation, but I think that would have been a stupid thing to do and a decision on emotion. I always try and remember the one liners or the bits of advice whether that's good or bad try and log it all try and take a little piece of the good ones I've worked with. It's not a big suitcase full of them but it's enough and there's some important stuff in there that might help me in the future.feedback

Apr 27 2017

I have really enjoyed my time at the Academy so far and feel I have learnt a lot from the coaching staff here already. After speaking to Alex [Inglethorpe], we feel as though it is time for me to step up and manage my own team. Neil has done a fantastic job with the U18s, so I hope I can continue where he left off, encouraging and nurturing players into the U23s and eventually the first-team setup.feedback

Apr 27 2017

There is a showboating mentality through academies, . My teams will be physical.feedback

Alex has been first-class and I've had a lot of feedback. He's been honest and straight with me. He has spoken to me about my body language on the side in coaching sessions. He also talked to me about my coaching voice. He wants it to be the same as it was when I was a player, when I was captain.feedback

Apr 27 2017

But once they know you are approachable they get comfortable very quickly. We have to wait and see [what his strengths are as a coach] but you have to be approachable. The best managers I worked with were all very approachable, honest and fair, and always gave me feedback whether it was positive or negative.feedback

Apr 21 2017

I think the one to be excited about at Everton is Tom Davies, who seems to have broken in and stayed in. He's a terrific footballer who's scored a few exciting goals. What he has done is he has announced himself and basically said to a regular starter: 'I am taking your place. I am staying in there. And they are the ones that usually go on to become superstars.feedback

It will be an honour to pull on the red shirt and play football with an outstanding squad and former team-mates – this is what Liverpool is all about, celebrating the family that has been around for 125 years. Nov 24 2016

I have learnt a lot off the coaches and off my team-mates and I will certainly use that for myself going forward because, although I am going back to England to live, it is certainly not the end for me in football terms. I have got a lot of things to consider over the coming weeks and months. I am sure I will be back involved in the game, somewhere down the line.feedback

Jul 08 2015

I think there will be a few minor stops and starts and a few tweaks, the players have to get used to me the way that I play. I have to adapt the way the team plays and how certain individuals play. It will take a small amount of time for the manager to get used to me and me get used to the manager and the staff. But, I adapt pretty quickly and I've been around the game for a long time and I'm pretty experienced. So, I think that transition will happen very quickly.feedback
